I get asked a lot about healthy snacks. What are the best healthy snacks for the office, for traveling, for your gym bag, etc.?
While these healthy snacks are ideal for pretty much any situation because of their individual wrapping and portability, I am never without at least a few of these in my desk drawer or office refrigerator!
5 Healthy Snacks for the Office
Planters Salted Peanuts – 1 oz. (48ct.)
These 1 oz packs of salted peanuts from Planters are the perfect grab-and-go healthy snack for the office. I am literally never without at least a couple of packs of these!
The 1 oz bags are much better than the larger bags to me because they are just the right size to add to breakfast or to eat alone as a mid-afternoon snack. Each bag packs 7 grams of protein and 2 grams of fiber, but there are only 2 grams of saturated fat and 1 gram of sugar.
At $7.28 for 48 packs at my local Sam’s Club, that makes them a very budget-friendly snack as well at only $0.15/bag! The convenience, nutritional benefits, and price of these nuts makes this my #1 recommended healthy snack for the office or any time!
Big Slice Apples
Big slice Apples were first cooked in Grandma Hoerner’s farm kitchen, made from apples straight from the orchard in the late 1800s. Over the years the packaging has changed, but the quality and taste remain top-notch in this treasured family recipe.
Big Slice Apples are made from fresh slices of GMO-free, USA-grown apples, which are slow-cooked until they are transformed into thick, juicy chunks. Then, they mix in pure whole fruits and super-foods like hemp seed and green coffee extract, resulting in a delicious, healthy snack that provides protein, fiber, and energy.
Big Slice features 17 flavors, all available in cute, convenient on-the-go pouches. They are naturally gluten-free and fat-free, and most flavors come in at around 100 calories per pouch.

Mandarin orange cups
I am a huge fan of Cuties, Halos, and Smiles, but when they’re not on sale or in season, I really like to eat the Dole mandarin oranges in fruit juice in fruit cup form. Each cup has 100 calories and is naturally fat-free. The grapefruit cups are tasty, too!
Nature Valley Dark Chocolate, Peanut and Almond Sweet and Salty Nut Granola Bars
I am not a big protein bar fan. I find them to be usually lacking in taste, gritty in texture, and often misleading in that they usually don’t actually have much protein, or they have so much added sugar you’re better off just eating a Snickers bar.
However, every now and then I will pick up a box of these Nature Valley Dark Chocolate, Peanut and Almond Sweet and Salty Nut Granola Bars (you will have the whole bar eaten before you can say “Nature Valley Dark Chocolate, Peanut and Almond Sweet and Salty Nut Granola Bars!”). First of all, these taste amazing. If you like sweet and salty together, then you will love these bars!
Are they the MOST healthy snack in the world? Probably not. But if you’re craving those Fun-sized candy bars or donuts that are in the office, these bars are a good way to get your chocolate fix without eating too many empty calories.
Unsweetened applesauce has become one of my top sweet tooth satisfiers! Each individual-sized cup has only 50 calories but is plenty sweet without any added sugar or sweeteners.
I am rarely without a few cups of unsweetened applesauce in my gym bag, purse, refrigerator, and desk drawers!
Unsweetened applesauce is an awesome addition to a lot of foods, from pork roasts to cakes. You can also use it in place of oil in a lot of baking recipes.
Trident Sugar-Free Gum
When in doubt, chew gum. We wind up with a lot of candy and baked goods in our office, and during those times, it’s best to just keep my mouth and mind occupied by chewing gum! My personal favorite is Trident’s sugar-free tropical twist gum.
